Project Description

A design re-discovered in a ruined country chapel

Deruta verde fondo giallo

This design was popular in Deruta in the 16th century and was used for dinnerware and decorative tiles.

In the 1990’s a friend of Ubaldo Grazia found a tile in a ruined country chapel, bearing the polychrome design called “Deruta verde fondo giallo”. Grazia decided to put the pattern back into production and it became an immediate success.

It was carried by the Neiman Marcus department store in the United States for many years.
